Fudgy Chocolate Cake

This Fudgy Chocolate Cake is my favorite – it’s moist and covered in chocolate frosting, and it’s super easy to make!

You ever have one of those days where you jump into something new, feeling nervous but optimistic, and then you epically (is that a word?) fail?

Blueberry Pineapple Oatmeal Cups

These Blueberry Pineapple Oatmeal Cups are full of oats, yogurt, and fruit.  They’re on the healthier side and are good for breakfast or snacking!

Has anyone watched the new Netflix show, “Nailed It?”  It’s a little repetitive and I’m not a fan of reality TV (ok, usually I hate it), but I saw buttercream and my baker self became interested.  I admit I’ve been getting a kick out of seeing some of the terribly failed desserts.  It’s too funny.

White Spaghetti

If you’re not a fan of tomato-based spaghetti, give this easy white sauce version a try!

When I was a kid, I wasn’t a huge fan of spaghetti.  In saying that, I don’t mean that I completely disliked it.  If it was on the table for dinner I ate it and was fine with it, but if I were to compile a list of my favorite childhood meals, spaghetti probably wouldn’t be included.  That changed as I got older, and I enjoy spaghetti a lot more now.

Oatmeal Walnut Breakfast Bars

Oatmeal Walnut Bars – these only require 30 minutes prep.  Good for a make-ahead breakfast or snack idea!

I haven’t posted on this blog in over a week, and it feels strange.  Things are continuing to move forward nicely with our new house, and I am excited about moving in at the end of the month!  Experimenting with new recipes and food photography has kind of been on the back burner recently (pun intended), but that’s ok.  🙂  It’s good to focus on other stuff too.

Buttermilk Mango Muffins

A taste of summertime – whole wheat buttermilk muffins with chunks of mango!

Happy Friday!  My husband and I are enjoying a relaxing evening and watching Thor: Ragnarok while munching on the chocolate chip pie that resulted from today’s kitchen experiment.  The pie is good (because it contains dark chocolate of course), but I want to adjust the recipe just a little more before I share it here on the blog.  Hopefully soon!

PB & J Energy Bites

For all the PB & J lovers out there – an energy boosting snack that’s ready in ten minutes, and you only need three ingredients!

If you’ve been perusing some of my blog ramblings in addition to using my recipes, you might know that my husband and I are currently in the transitory state of moving to a new house.  And hey, if you haven’t been reading the convoluted writings and are simply taking the recipes instead, I really don’t blame you.  Ain’t nobody got time to read this stuff.  (Please note: this is the only instance you will ever see me use the want-to-be-a-word-but-actually-isn’t-a-word “ain’t” on this blog.)

Photos of the Week – Chesapeake Bay

Happy Monday!  It’s been a little while since I shared a Photo of the Week post, so I thought I would write one this evening.

I seem to recall promising that I would post more pictures from my trip to Virginia Beach (which took place back in December), but as as you can see, that never happened.  (Oops.)  Life got busy and I completely forgot.  And I’m guessing most of you did too.  Haha.  In that case, I don’t feel too bad. 🙂

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches

Add these easy Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches to your list of quick dinner or lunch ideas – you only need a handful of ingredients and less than 30 minutes to make them!

I love the relaxing feel of a fresh breeze wafting in through the window after a light rain.  Our weather has been so perfect yesterday and today that I almost can’t believe it.  (I mean, highs around 70 during the day and lows in the 50s at night in late April?  Florida, you’ve outdone yourself.)

Fudgy Dark Chocolate Brownies

Brownies that are so fudgy they’re almost fudge…except they’re brownies.  And they have dark chocolate.  Need I say more?

One of my baking missions in life has been to figure out the “perfect” brownie recipe.  Along the way I’ve created a couple of variations:  Fudgy White Chocolate Blonde Brownies and Marbled Blonde and Chocolate Brownies with Salted Caramel.  Both of those recipes were fun and I enjoyed them, but there’s something even better about the simplicity of a plain, fudgy, chocolate brownie.
